Its also been noted that ray taught survival skills to the sas from 1980s to the 1990s. So they must have faith in him. I cant imagin the sas inviting bear to teach anyone they wanted to survive.

Les Stroud would also make an excellent candidate for an "impromptu accidental remote adventure" and you'd benefit from his harmonica's resonating notes...

I love both these guys, they bring their own, but if you can utilise anything they teach you, you are "DOIN GOOD", being from Ireland, reading the SAS survival guide raised many an eyebrow with my friends, but i read them books when i was 6, long before i understood the politics between Ireland and England, the way i see it, we are the same breed of people, the greatest adventurers of this earth, always pushing the boundaries, from Tom Crean to Edmunson and Scott of course, we will allways prevail as the greatest and hardest explorers, and the most resilient race on this earth, I love watching Mears for his soft and caring approach to survival, but love watchin Grylls for his sense of adventure, pushing his limits, after all ,he did break his back in a skydiving accident and still, motors on. Fair dues!

Once one is mastering wild life, one has to get to stage two.

I am preparing a show on survival in modern civilization that might be of better use to you all.
The principle is very simple: i get lost without any money, short and Tshirt, anywhere in the world... and i have to survive.
- How to collect energy rich trash, find yourself cloth.
- How to defend yourself against ill intentionned armed biped, weither they want to beat you up, rape you, steal your meal or are from the police and want to do all these things to you but in a dark humid cell.
- How to get food in a supermrket without paying
- How to milk domestic cows without being caught by the local farmer
-How to hunt with silent bows domestic cattle in remote farms where farmers are too busy to watch out
- Where to find gardens where you can safely pick up vegetables at night
- How to find raw material (copper wires, metal etc) in public places for youreslf or to trade for food.

I am not sure the BBC will finally take it, but i can send you the DVD to be ordered from my web site.

Dual Survival comes to mind with Bear and Ray,
Ray is good, i like most of them really, but honestly is not if 1 is better they have diffrent styles, so for me awwwwww SAS all the way, i dont want to be hanging out like a stoner surviving, i want extreame Adrenaline, i understand not all could push thru that, and it would be over in 2-3 days with Bear and not 2-3 weeks, Sorry in with Bear all the way, bring on the Adrenaline
YEWWWW!!!!

the thing is is that they do totally different things, Ray is more of bush craft cooking and fabricating until he is found and bear tries to find them first. I would go with ray

Well if you're going to get stuck on a desert island with a couple of people you couldn't do much better than the pair of them!
