    Hi John,

    Great software, absolutely love it.

Was wondering if you could somehow embed the URL of the picture into the image itself. I often browse through the folder of saved flickr images and would like to view more by the specific user that took the shot.

Is there an EXIF tag or file attribute you can set to the image's URL?

    Thanks for the great software.

    Thanks! :)

Ah, I've thought of that and you can do it already! Notice that the pictures are saved with specific file names, such as:

    10685022@N00-140715402.jpg

You can go directly to the photo page on Flickr by taking the two parts of the name separated by the hyphen and putting them together like so:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/10685022@N00/140715402/

The pictures are saved as UserID-PhotoID.jpg so you can always get to the actual photo page at a later date! Hope that helps.

Thanks John, that is exactly what I was looking for.

Never even thought of it being the actual filename.

Maybe I need to make it more obvious in the software!

What would be the ultimate solution is a mini browser of the downloaded images that produces a link back to the original flickr page.

Now that's a good idea! Thanks!

    Good Morning John,

I heard about your Backround Switcher from a friend. I've been using it for a few days now and love it.

I am utilizing the "Save Forever" option to save photos so that I can see what kind of stuff shows up when I'm away from my PC.
Unfortunately the filenames of the images are scrambled and there is no way to locate the original Flickr User/Filename as described above.

For example, a very nice photo of the Hong Kong skyline that appeared on my desktop yesterday has a filename of "0ac3e4fe5ca8d6086894c5dc39be204e.jpg"
I would really like to see what other photos from that user but am unable to decipher the new "scrambled" filenames.

    Any suggestions?

    Todd

Yes, have a look at the file called JBSReadme.txt in the folder JBS saves your pictures to (by default it's "John's Background Switcher" in your "Pictures" folder) - you'll see it maintains a list of all the file names and their corresponding URLs. Just search for the long file name and you'll see the URL.
