    Hi,

First, I found out JBS 2 days ago and I love it. It's the best freeware that does that kind of job and more.

I guess this point have been already treated but it would be very nice to give user the possibility to set the cache location where he wants to (e.g.: D:\JBS Cache). My C: drive is full and is only for OS. Please consider it for a future release. By the way, when is the next release planned for? ;)

    best regards

    fred

Yeah, that's on my list for the next version you'll be glad to know. JBS stores it in your local application profile (as Microsoft says you should do) but that doesn't really help when you run low on disk space on your C: drive! You can shorten the cache duration so that the cache folders aren't so big in the meantime from the 'Picture Handling' section of 'More Settings'.

And thanks, glad you like it! :)

If you need an updated french locale for JBS 4.2, let me know, I'll do it !

Sure, I can add you to the translators if you like. Although have you spotted any translation problems with the current version?

    Yes you can ;)
The present french translation is pretty ok.

I've loved and used your app for some time! Thank you.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents for giving the option to change the cache folder. I too just have the OS on my C: drive. My concerns is not just space, but more fragmentation happening on that drive.

Wasn't this an option back in your earlier releases? I have a cached folder on my e: drive that seemed to have gone inactive back in December.

Thanks again for all the recent updates and an amazing job on the app itself. I never have a dull wallpaper to look at anymore. :o)

Ah, what happened was I moved the cache folder from your roaming profile folder to your local profile folder. The reason was that if you were logged into a domain then the cache folder would be stored on the server which could get quite large as you'd appreciated! So now only the settings files are stored in the roaming folder, the rest are just local to your machine.

And don't worry, the configuration option is on the list for the next version!

So, is this feature a part of JBS 4.2 ?

No it's not. 4.2 is primarily a bug fix version with only a couple of new features. Moving the cache location is still on the list but really your local app directory is the place where temporary files like these are supposed to live (browsers like FireFox do exactly the same thing with their cache) and if you're running out of space then you should either move your local profile elsewhere or alternatively reduce the duration pictures are cached for in the 'Picture Handling' section of 'More Settings'.

I'm sure you'll appreciate that I have only a limited amount of time I can spend working on JBS so I have to prioritise the items based on how much value they add to how long they'll take and making the cache folder configurable is of a comparatively low priority that's more tricky than you'd think - hence why it didn't make it into 4.2.

I was originally planning on 4.2 being a larger release but I had less free time than I'd have liked so concentrated on bug fixes. I have no reason to doubt it'll make it into 4.3 but that'll be a while off yet I'm afraid! If I could just win the lottery I'd be able to spend a lot more time working on JBS. ;)
